Porsche 992 & Taycan Custom Steering Wheel Guide

Quick answer: Exclusive Steering builds fully custom steering wheels for the Porsche 911 (992.1), Taycan and Macan on one listing, the 2020–2024 992 / Taycan / Macan custom steering wheel, starting at $1,199 with the core included. Each wheel is built on a genuine OEM Porsche steering wheel with airbag that we supply, takes 5–8 weeks to build, ships free within the US and is covered by a 3-year warranty.

The 992 and the Taycan share more than most owners expect, including the steering wheel platform. That's good news if you want a wheel that feels as special as the car: you pick the shape, the materials and the details, and we build it by hand. Below is how to confirm fitment, what you can change, which builds Porsche owners start from, and how ordering works.

Which listing fits your Porsche?

Porsche reuses steering wheel designs across models, so our Porsche listings are organized by wheel platform rather than by single model. For the current generation, this is the one to use:

Your car Listing Starting price
911 (992.1), Taycan, Macan, 2020–2024 992 / Taycan / Macan custom steering wheel $1,199 (core included)
911 (991.2), GT3/GT3 RS (991), 718 Boxster/Cayman, Cayenne (958.2), Panamera (971), Macan (95B), 2014–2020 991.2 / 718 / GT3 custom steering wheel $1,199 (core included)
Any other Porsche, or a car that isn't listed All Makes and Models (send-in) From $949

You can browse every Porsche option in our Porsche custom steering wheel collection, or go straight to the 911 992.1 collection or the Panamera / Taycan collection.

Not sure which wheel you have? Upload a photo of your current steering wheel when you order. We confirm your exact version before we build anything, so you won't end up with a wheel that doesn't fit.

What about the 2025+ 911 (992.2)?

The facelifted 992.2 isn't covered by the 2020–2024 listing. If you drive a 2025 or newer 911, reach out or use the All Makes and Models listing with a photo of your wheel, and we'll tell you what we can build before you commit to anything.

Do you need to send in your wheel?

No. For the 992 / Taycan / Macan listing, the price includes the core. We build your new wheel on a genuine OEM steering wheel with airbag that we supply, so your car stays drivable on its factory wheel the whole time. When your custom wheel arrives, you (or your installer) swap it in.

If you'd rather keep your own wheel, for example because it already has an option you want to preserve, you can send it in instead. Our send-in service starts at $949.

One thing to know up front: we make the steering wheel and the airbag cover. We don't modify your Porsche's electronics.

What you can customize on a 992 or Taycan wheel

Every option in our builder is available on this platform:

  • Shape: Flat Bottom, Flat Top, Competition, 3-Piece, Lux, Round, or the factory OEM shape.
  • Materials: carbon fiber in eight weave and color types (including forged carbon and red or blue reflective weaves), smooth or perforated leather in 17 standard colors with more on request, Alcantara, paint, or hydro-dipped wood grain.
  • Finish: gloss, satin or matte.
  • Grip and feel: a Regular or Extra Thick rim, with optional ergonomic grooves where your hands rest.
  • Details: a center stripe, single, tri-color or flag stitching, and a finger insert on the Lux shape.
  • Extras: finished or extended paddle shifters, finished trim pieces, retained heating (+$200), an LED competition display, a custom airbag cover, and a custom logo.

Each material runs cleanly to its natural split line on the rim, so a carbon top meets the leather or Alcantara grip directly. Your factory buttons and logo stay as Porsche designed them.

Three builds Porsche owners start from

There's no wrong answer, but most 992 and Taycan builds begin from one of three directions.

1. Motorsport

Alcantara grips in a dark shade such as 9040 Deep Black or 9002 Anthracite, a center stripe at 12 o'clock, and a matte or satin carbon top and bottom. It feels at home in a GT-style interior.

2. Clean OEM+

Keep the factory shape, switch to smooth leather matched to your interior, and add contrast stitching. It looks like something Porsche could have offered from the factory, just more personal. If you're matching an exact interior color, order leather samples first and compare them in your car.

3. Statement

Forged carbon or a red or blue reflective weave in gloss, paired with a Competition or Flat Top shape and the LED competition display. This is the build that gets noticed at car meets.

Taycan and Macan owners: anything different?

Because the Taycan and Macan share this wheel platform with the 992.1, the same options, prices and process apply. The main thing to decide is how you use the car. A daily-driven Taycan or Macan often suits smooth or perforated leather with retained heating for cold mornings. A weekend 911 is where Alcantara and a thicker rim tend to shine. Either way, the photo you upload at checkout lets us confirm your exact wheel before we start.

How ordering works

  1. Configure your wheel on the 992 / Taycan / Macan listing, or choose Help Me Build It to work through the design with our team.
  2. Upload a photo of your current wheel so we can confirm fitment.
  3. Review your proof. We send proof-of-concept images before we build.
  4. We build it by hand. Production takes 5–8 weeks from order. We've been building custom steering wheels for 18 years.
  5. Delivery. Shipping is free within the US, $80 to Canada and from $120 to other countries. We recommend having a certified professional install it, because the wheel houses your airbag.
