Quick answer: The Porsche 911 (991.2), 991 GT3 and GT3 RS, and 718 Boxster and Cayman share one Exclusive Steering listing: the 2014–2020 991.2 / GT3 / 718 custom steering wheel, starting at $1,199 with the core included. We build it by hand on a genuine OEM steering wheel with airbag that we supply. Production takes 5–8 weeks, shipping is free within the US, and every wheel carries a 3-year warranty.
If you drive a GT3 or a 718, the steering wheel is the part of the car you touch most, and the one that tells you the most about the road. A custom wheel changes how it feels in your hands and how it looks from the driver's seat. This guide covers which listing fits your car, what you can change, the builds track-day and weekend drivers usually start from, and how ordering works.
Which listing fits your GT3 or 718?
Porsche shares steering wheel platforms across several models, so our Porsche listings are organized by wheel platform rather than by individual car. Here's what the 991.2-era platform covers, including the Cayenne, Panamera and Macan of the same period:
| Model | Years covered |
|---|---|
| 911 (991.2) | 2016–2020 |
| 911 GT3 (991) | 2013–2019 |
| 911 GT3 RS (991) | 2015–2019 |
| 718 Boxster / Cayman (982) | 2016–2025 |
| Cayenne | 2016–2024 |
| Panamera (971) | 2017–2025 |
| Macan (95B) | 2014–2021 |
All of these use the 991.2 / GT3 / 718 listing at $1,199. If your Porsche is older or newer, one of our other platform listings is the right starting point:
- 2009–2016 911 (991.1), Boxster, Cayman, Cayenne and Panamera with PDK: 991.1 PDK listing, from $1,099.
- 2009–2016 911, GT3, Boxster, Cayman, Cayenne and Panamera: 2009–2016 listing, from $1,099.
- 2020–2024 911 (992.1), Taycan and Macan: 992 / Taycan / Macan listing, from $1,199. Our 992 and Taycan guide covers that platform in detail.
- Anything else: the All Makes and Models send-in service, from $949.
Some model years appear on more than one platform, because Porsche changed wheels partway through a generation. That's why we ask for a photo of your current steering wheel when you order. We confirm your exact version before we build anything, so the wheel you receive is the one that fits your car.

Do you have to send in your wheel?
No. The listing price includes the core: we build your new wheel on a genuine OEM steering wheel with airbag that we supply. Your GT3 or 718 stays on its factory wheel the whole time. When the custom wheel arrives, you or your installer swap it in.
If you'd rather we work on your own wheel, you can send it in instead. Our send-in service starts at $949.
To be clear about scope: we make the steering wheel and the airbag cover. We don't modify the car's electronics.
What you can customize
Every option in our builder is available on this platform:
- Shape: Flat Bottom, Flat Top, Competition, 3-Piece, Lux, Round, or the factory OEM shape.
- Main material: carbon fiber in 2x2, 1x1, 4x4, honeycomb, forged, red or blue twill, red or blue reflective, or forged with color flakes; smooth or perforated leather; Alcantara; paint; or hydro-dipped wood grain. Finishes come in gloss, satin or matte.
- Grips: smooth leather, perforated leather or Alcantara, in a Regular (OEM-like) or Extra Thick rim, with optional ergonomic grooves on the Competition shape.
- Details: a center stripe in paint, leather, perforated leather or Alcantara; single, tri-color or flag-preset stitching; and a finger insert on the Lux shape.
- Trim and paddles: finished trim pieces, plus finished or extended factory paddles with optional +/− markings (shifter electronics not included).
- Extras: the LED competition display, with or without an LCD screen, on the Flat Top, Competition and Lux shapes; retained heating (+$200); a custom airbag cover; and a custom logo, either a decal under clear coat or embroidery.
Each material runs cleanly to its natural split line, so a carbon top meets the Alcantara or leather grip directly. Your factory buttons and Porsche crest stay as they are.
Three builds GT3 and 718 owners start from
1. Track day
A Competition shape with ergonomic grooves, Alcantara grips, a center stripe at 12 o'clock and a matte carbon top and bottom. The grooves give your hands a consistent place to sit, and the stripe makes it easy to see where straight ahead is when the wheel is turned. If you want shift cues in your line of sight, add the LED competition display.
2. Fast road car
A Flat Bottom shape with perforated leather grips in a Regular rim thickness, satin carbon, and stitching matched to your interior. It sharpens the look without changing the factory feel too much, and it's a natural fit for a 718 that sees a mix of commuting and back roads. If you want warm hands on cold mornings, add retained heating.
3. Statement build
Forged carbon, or forged carbon with color flakes picked to match your exterior or interior accents, in gloss, on a Flat Top or Lux shape. The builder also includes a German black-red-yellow flag preset for the stitching and for a painted center stripe if you want a nod to Stuttgart.

Do I need to send in my steering wheel?
No. The $1,199 price includes the core. We build on a genuine OEM steering wheel with airbag that we supply, so your car stays on its factory wheel until the new one arrives. You can send in your own wheel instead if you prefer.
How much does a custom GT3 or 718 steering wheel cost?
The listing starts at $1,199 with the core included. Options you choose in the builder are priced there; keeping the heated function, for example, adds $200.
Can I get the LED competition display on my 718 or GT3 wheel?
Yes. The LED competition display, with or without an LCD screen, is available on the Flat Top, Competition and Lux shapes.
Can you finish my paddle shifters?
If your car has factory paddles, we can finish them in carbon, paint or wood grain, or extend them, with optional +/− markings. Shifter electronics are not included.
How long does it take, and what does shipping cost?
Production takes 5 to 8 weeks from order. Shipping is free within the US, $80 to Canada and from $120 to other countries, where import duties may apply.
What warranty comes with the wheel?
Every wheel has a 3-year warranty. Because each wheel is built to your spec, all sales are final, but if there's a defect or an error on our side we'll make it right with a replacement or exchange.
